Residency
WHAT WE OFFER
We are now accepting applications for the Artist-in-Residence programme for 2027. Application deadline: May 20, 2026 at 23:59 (CET)
Leveld Kunstnartun was established in 2014 and is an artist residency in Ål in Hallingdal. By providing strong working conditions for Norwegian and international artists, Leveld Kunstnartun aims to promote interdisciplinary practices and the production of high-quality art.
With us, artists can find inspiration and explore ideas in interaction with a vibrant mountain community. We offer excellent working facilities, including two bright studios, a writing room, a printmaking workshop, and two residences. The residences are fully equipped, and fiber internet as well as a car are available.
At any given time, there are at least three artists in residence, who can apply for stays of 1, 2, or 3 months. Selected artists receive both a working grant and a travel grant.
To ensure high artistic quality, guest artists are selected by juries appointed by the Norwegian Association of Young Artists, the Norwegian Authors’ Union, and the Norwegian Society of Composers. Since its establishment, more than 300 artists have completed residencies at Leveld.
Leveld Kunstnartun is a non-profit association supported by the Ministry of Culture, Buskerud County Council, and Ål Municipality.
