ABOUT THE AREA
Leveld is a hamlet of 300 inhabitants in the commune of Ål. Ål is situated at the foot of the mighty Hardangervidda mountain plateau and there are endless possibilities for hikes in beautiful surroundings. Leveld is a 15 minute drive from Ål centre with all necessary shops. (Art materials have to be ordered from Oslo or elsewhere.) There is a grocery store in Leveld about a 20 minute walk or 5 min drive from the residency.
Ål is practically situated along the train line between Oslo and Bergen, appr. 3,5 hours in each direction.
EXPECTATIONS
Resident artists are expected to take part in an open studio day, but are otherwise free to concentrate on their own practice. Events like workshops or concerts may be arranged in agreement with the resident artists.
THE JURY
The selection of resident artist is done by a jury of peers appointed by international and Norwegian artist organizations. To ensure arms lengths distance the staff at LK AiR only act as secretaries during the process, and do not choose residents.
The jury will only consider the artistic work in the pdf sent by the applicants. The application form with personal information will only be used to ensure diversity, equality and exchange between cultures, age groups, genders and artistic professions.
APPLICATION
To apply you must:
Submit the application form
Send a PDF with your artistic work to applyleveld@gmail.com
Important! Note that you have to send the form and the pdf separately!
The application form will contain information about the applicants and a CV, and will not be shown to the jury members until they have made a first selection based on artistic qualities only.
The PDF should only contain artistic work and be one single file of max 3MB and max 10 pages. We recommend a horizontal format of 1920 x 1080 pixels that shows well on a computer screen.
If you work with film or sound include links in your PDF. Remember to check that the links works and enclose code if necessary.
Please write in English as some jury members are international. Authors can also submit text in original language if it is Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.
The link has to be live until the end of June.
Good luck!
